6 Days Rwanda Safari

6 Days Rwanda Safari – Where the Wild Quietly Meets Your Soul

In six short days, you’ll feel the heartbeat of Africa through three wildly different landscapes: Akagera’s open savannahs where lions lounge under acacia trees, Nyungwe’s tangled rainforest where chimps swing like kids at recess, and the misty mountains of Volcanoes National Park, where gorillas sit like monks and watch you back. Each place has its own rhythm, its own mood—and together, they build a journey that shifts something in you.

Upon your arrival in Kigali, you shall be picked by your Friendly Gorillas safari guide who greets you not with a clipboard, but with a grin that says, you’re in good hands now. No stress. No rush. Just adventure waiting quietly outside the car window.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Kigali City Tour & Into the Hills

Your first taste of Rwanda is clean air and clean streets. Upon your arrival, you shall be picked up by your safri guide before you visit the Genocide Memorial—not to dwell in sadness, but to witness strength. It’s not an easy stop, but it’s one you’ll never regret. Then come the soft edges: bright woven baskets in local markets, the scent of grilled plantains, the rhythm of Kinyarwanda banter floating through open air cafés.

You climb out of the city toward the forested slopes of Nyungwe, and by late afternoon, the air feels different. Cooler. Still. You shall do little but wait to experience the chimpanzees tomorrow.

Day 2 – Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Adventure in Nyungwe

You rise early because the forest doesn’t wait but, with the help of a guide by your side and the forest all around, you follow calls and crashing branches until you find them—the chimps. There’s no filter here. They shriek, chase, mate, snack, and swing—all within arm’s reach. You laugh. You duck. You forget you’re on two legs.

After lunch, you take the canopy walk—three suspended bridges strung above the trees. The view is endless, and the silence up there feels sacred. You sleep tonight knowing your body earned that rest.

Day 3 – Volcanoes Bound: Through Rwanda’s Green Heart

You drive north, through a land so green it feels made up. Tea fields roll in rows like waves. Kids wave back. You stop for fresh fruit and roadside smiles. As the mountains of Volcanoes National Park begin to rise ahead, you feel your breath change—not from altitude, but anticipation.

This is where the gorillas live. Your lodge welcomes you like a warm bath after a long day, and as the sun sets over the Virunga volcanoes, you go quiet too.

Day 4 – Gorilla Trekking: The Quiet That Stays With You

There’s no way to really describe what happens today. You can try, sure. You can talk about the early start, the briefing, the mud, the climb. But then you find them. And they find you. A family of mountain gorillas sits calmly in a nest of green. One scratches his belly. Another grabs a vine. A baby stumbles. The silverback locks eyes with you—and you stop thinking altogether.

The hour you spend with them is never enough. But it’s also more than you could’ve imagined. You return changed. Not dramatically. Just quietly. Like something fell into place.

Day 5 – Golden Monkeys & Cultural Heartbeats

Golden monkeys are the comedians of the forest. They dart, chatter, tumble through the bamboo. Their energy is contagious. It’s a lighter hike, but no less memorable. Later, you visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village. It’s not a performance—it’s a welcome.

You hear stories, learn dances, and maybe even try a drumbeat of your own. You leave smiling. Because now, Rwanda feels personal.

Day 6 – Return to Kigali & Departure

The drive back is scenic, but this time you’re not glued to the window. You’re replaying everything: the moment the chimp leapt overhead, the gorilla’s stare, the sound of laughter in the village. You arrive in Kigali and are dropped off—maybe for a flight, maybe just for now.

You’ll leave Rwanda. But Rwanda won’t leave you. That’s how it works. This country is subtle. But when it moves you, it moves you for good.
